French AI company Mistral<\/a> raised \u20ac3 billion in Series D
\nfunding at a post-money valuation of more than \u20ac21 billion, three years after
\nits launch. Samsung Electronics<\/a> led the round, with the Scaleup Europe Fund,
\nmanaged by EQT<\/a>, and existing investor PSG Equity<\/a> as co-leads.<\/p>\n

New investors Advent, funds and accounts managed by
\nBlackRock and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg also joined the round. Existing
\ninvestors a16z, ASML, Belfius, BNP Paribas CIB, Bpifrance, Carmignac, DST
\nGlobal, Eurazeo, General Catalyst, Headline, Hillspire, Index Ventures, Korelya
\nCapital, Lightspeed, NVIDIA, Phoenix Court’s Solar fund and Salesforce Ventures
\nalso participated.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2023, Mistral develops AI models, infrastructure
\nand products for businesses and public-sector organisations. Its approach
\ncombines open-weight models with the infrastructure and computing capacity used
\nto run them, alongside products for deploying the technology in production
\nenvironments.<\/p>\n

The company is positioning its technology around growing
\ndemand from organisations seeking greater control over how AI systems are
\ndeployed, including where data is stored, how models are customised and which
\ninfrastructure is used.<\/p>\n

Its platform is designed to allow customers to operate AI
\nsystems without relying on a single technology provider and to keep sensitive
\ndata and workflows within their own environments.<\/p>\n

Mistral currently operates across 20 countries and says it
\nsupports more than 125 enterprises with their AI deployments, including Airbus,
\nASML and HSBC.<\/p>\n

The Series D follows Mistral’s Series C, which was led by
\nDutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML. With Samsung Electronics
\nleading the latest round, the company has now secured successive investments
\nled by two major technology and industrial groups.<\/p>\n

The new funding will be used to expand Mistral’s AI research
\nand computing capacity, develop its infrastructure and products, and support
\nfurther commercial and international expansion.<\/p>\n
