NewSchool Fund I reached its target after raising \u20ac6.1 million at<br \/>\nits first close last September.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The fund is backed by around 50 investors,<br \/>\nincluding six family offices such as The Millers Office, as well as<br \/>\nentrepreneurs from the Belgian business community, including Willem Delbaere<br \/>\nand Roeland Delrue of Aikido Security, Jean-Louis Van Houwe of Monizze and Luc<br \/>\nCoopman of Cobofisk. NewSchool founder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/christophemorbee\/\" target=\"_blank\">Christophe Morbee<\/a> has contributed 25 per<br \/>\ncent of the fund himself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>NewSchool focuses on B2B technology companies<br \/>\nat the pre-seed and seed stages. The fund has made 32 investments to date, with<br \/>\nthree more in the pipeline. Around 75 per cent of its investments are in<br \/>\nBelgium, with the remainder spread across Germany, the Netherlands, Norway,<br \/>\nSpain, Switzerland, France and the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Morbee founded NewSchool after several years as<br \/>\nan angel investor. He is also CEO of Belgian payroll and HR provider besox,<br \/>\nwhich has 110 employees and around 4,000 SME clients. NewSchool uses this<br \/>\nnetwork to connect portfolio companies with potential customers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>NewSchool combines capital with support in<br \/>\nareas including go-to-market, sales and storytelling, with a focus on<br \/>\ntechnology companies looking to automate established industries.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>Europe is an engineer&#8217;s continent, with<br \/>\ntechnically strong teams. What&#8217;s often missing is someone who takes charge of<br \/>\ngo-to-market, sales and storytelling. That&#8217;s where we focus, alongside the<br \/>\ncapital we provide. There&#8217;s still enormous room to automate old industries.
