{"id":56172,"date":"2026-09-22T01:25:32","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T01:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cp.snarskis.lt\/index.php\/2026\/09\/22\/deepl-boss-being-private-right-now-has-a-lot-of-advantages\/"},"modified":"2026-09-22T01:25:32","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T01:25:32","slug":"deepl-boss-being-private-right-now-has-a-lot-of-advantages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cp.snarskis.lt\/index.php\/2026\/09\/22\/deepl-boss-being-private-right-now-has-a-lot-of-advantages\/","title":{"rendered":"DeepL boss: Being private right now has a &#8220;lot of advantages&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"single-post-content\">\n<p>The CEO of language translation AI<br \/>\nscaleup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deepl.com\/en\">DeepL<\/a> has downplayed reports that the company is likely to IPO soon,<br \/>\nsaying there are a \u201clot of advantages&#8221; to being a private company right now.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the Tech.eu podcast,<br \/>\nJarek Kutylowski, DeepL CEO and founder, discussed a range of issues including<br \/>\nEuropean sovereignty,<a href=\"https:\/\/tech.eu\/2026\/06\/17\/deepl-acquires-us-audio-stadium-streaming-business-mixhalo\/\"> its acquisition of Mixhalo<\/a>, its deal with <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.eu\/2026\/08\/19\/deepl-strikes-deal-with-us-legal-ai-startup-harvey\/\">legaltech Harvey<\/a>, job cuts, and the fallout from its decision to use Amazon<br \/>\nWeb Services and no longer process data exclusively on its own servers.\n<\/p>\n<p>A report in the media last year said<br \/>\nthat Cologne-based DeepL, which provides an AI text translation and<br \/>\nvoice-to-voice translation service,\u00a0was exploring an IPO that<br \/>\ncould come as early as this year.\n<\/p>\n<p>But Kutylowski played down a<br \/>\nsuggestion that DeepL could IPO soon, pointing to the expected IPOs of OpenAI<br \/>\nand Anthropic as factors deterring it.\n<\/p>\n<p>Kutylowski said: \u201cI think right now<br \/>\npublic markets are a pretty tricky place for AI companies and tech companies in<br \/>\ngeneral.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year we have seen massive<br \/>\nshifts in the markets. I am someone who rather considers stability an important<br \/>\npart of a company\u2019s development.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I do not think that it would be an easy<br \/>\nspace to be in the public markets as an AI company, especially with the<br \/>\nupcoming IPOs of the big giants in this space.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think there is going to be a lot<br \/>\nof turmoil, and there\u2019s\u00a0going to be probably a lot of collateral damage here<br \/>\nand there depending on which direction the market sways.
