The funding includes an oversubscribed equity round led by<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.balderton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Balderton Capital<\/a>, alongside additional financing for concerts in development. Existing backers<br \/>\nMercuri, Gilston Music and artist manager Paul McGuinness also joined the round.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Unit1 is developing<br \/>\ntechnology designed to make avatar concerts easier and more economical to<br \/>\nproduce and replicate across different venues. While productions such as ABBA<br \/>\nVoyage have demonstrated demand for avatar-based live experiences, the cost of<br \/>\ndeveloping and relocating similar shows has limited their wider adoption.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The company says it<br \/>\nhas now developed a way to transfer avatar concert productions between venues<br \/>\nmore quickly and at lower cost, potentially allowing the same production to<br \/>\noperate in multiple locations without requiring extensive redevelopment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Unit1\u2019s productions<br \/>\ncombine visual effects, CGI and live performance elements to create<br \/>\nmixed-reality shows featuring artists who may no longer tour or whose<br \/>\nperformances can otherwise be difficult for audiences to experience live. The<br \/>\ncompany is targeting both newer audiences discovering music from previous<br \/>\ndecades and established fans looking for different ways to experience artists\u2019<br \/>\nwork.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/bwragg\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barney Wragg<\/a>,<br \/>\nfounder of Unit1 Studio, said the company aims to broaden access to avatar<br \/>\nconcerts by reducing the cost and complexity involved in developing and moving<br \/>\nproductions between venues:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>Unit1 is, and will<br \/>\nalways be, about expanding the connection between fan and artist regardless of<br \/>\ntime or geography. ABBA Voyage proved audiences love avatar concerts but the<br \/>\ndevelopment and relocation costs have meant the opportunity of avatar concerts<br \/>\nis not being realised.
